What is Fountain Pen Day?
Fountain Pen Day is a global celebration held annually on the first Friday of November. Beyond a festive event of connection across the fountain pen community, it’s a time to embrace the art of writing, promote the use of fountain pens, and share this interest and hobby with others.
Many brands and shops also participate in this weekend-long celebration by holding special events, promotions, or exclusive collections to add to the fun and enthusiasm.
Event Origins
Cary Yeager, a well-known fountain pen enthusiast, came up with the idea for Fountain Pen Day when he discovered there was a Ballpoint Pen Day but no such celebratory event for fountain pens. After gathering feedback from the fountain pen community and getting things into motion, the first Fountain Pen Day was born in 2012!
The first-ever Fountain Pen Day saw about 600 fountain pen fans and 49 vendor partners joining in for the inaugural event. Fahrney’s has been a proud sponsor of Fountain Pen Day since 2013 and continues to applaud the impact this event has in energizing and expanding the fountain pen community.
Since 2012, Fountain Pen Day has attracted thousands of fountain pen aficionados from all over the world, upholding the original mission to continue to celebrate fountain pens, embrace the art of writing, and grow the community’s enthusiasm and reach for years to come!
